Each year, October is designated as Domestic Violence
Awareness Month throughout the United States. Chances are that in your
lifetime you, a family member, or friend will be affected on some level by
domestic violence. The truth is, domestic violence happens every day within
our communities and it affects everyone that is involved with the victim.
You can make a difference in helping to stop these types of abusive crimes.
Together with Opportunities, we ask you to reach out and show your support
to someone you know who may be in an abusive situation.
During October,
Opportunities will be distributing purple ribbons at information booths
located throughout Lewis County to highlight Domestic Violence Awareness
Month. We invite you to stop in to receive a free purple ribbon, and
to learn more about this type of crime and how you can support victims in
our community. Visit us with questions, suggestions, sign up for
a free raffle, or just say hello. The booths will
be staffed from 9 AM – 3 PM on the following dates: |
